Thunder Bay man charged with aggravated assault following High Street incident; victim hospitalized
THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police Service officers have charged a local man following a serious assault that took place in the city’s south core on Thursday, June 26.
Primary Response officers were dispatched to the 300 block of High Street South shortly after 12 p.m. after reports of an injured male potentially suffering from assault-related trauma. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, an adult male, who was then transported by Superior North EMS to hospital for treatment. He remains hospitalized as of the latest update.
A suspect was located in the vicinity of the incident shortly after police arrived on the scene. Following an investigation, officers arrested 47-year-old Burkley David BLAKE and charged him with Aggravated Assault under the Criminal Code of Canada.
Blake appeared in Thunder Bay court on Friday, June 27. He was released from custody with strict conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on a future date.
