THUNDER BAY – LOCAL CRIME REPORT – MAY 16, 2025 – The Thunder Bay Police Service (TBPS) Cyber Crime Unit has arrested and charged three men following separate investigations into online child exploitation and the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material.
All three investigations, conducted over the past year, culminated in arrests this week. The accused individuals appeared in court on Friday, May 16.
Police are reminding the public of the importance of reporting suspected online exploitation and have provided multiple avenues for community members to assist investigators anonymously or directly.
Cyber Crime Unit Executes Three Successful Investigations
Case TB24046088
In this case, the TBPS Cyber Crime Unit launched an investigation last year after receiving reports of an adult male engaging with a female youth through a social media platform. It is alleged the male solicited and sent explicit images during these interactions.
Following a detailed investigation, a suspect was identified and arrested on Thursday, May 15.

Case TB24029537
In the second case, investigators acted on information that a local internet user was suspected of sharing child sexual abuse material. A search warrant executed on February 27 resulted in the seizure of several electronic devices.
Continued forensic analysis revealed the suspect had also solicited nude images from female youth.
The suspect, Arjun VIMAL ROY, 25, turned himself in and was arrested on Friday, May 16.

Case TB25011496
In the third investigation, TBPS Cyber Crime Unit received similar information of online activity involving child sexual abuse material. A search warrant was executed on April 22, with multiple devices seized for examination.
The suspect, Daniel ATKINSON, 44, also turned himself in and was arrested on Friday, May 16.
