Thunder Bay – COVID-19 Update – The Thunder Bay District Health Unit is reporting eight new COVID-19 cases in residents in the TBDHU Region.

There are currently 57 active cases in the region.

Four of today’s new cases are at the Southbridge Roseview Long-term Care Home. Two are with no known exposure and two of the new cases are pending. There are, at Roseview 13 active resident cases and 4 active staff cases.

There is one person hospitalized and another in the Intensive Care Ward.

There are nine additional cases which have been resolved.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) and Southbridge Care Homes have announced that the outbreak at Southbridge Pinewood long-term care home in Thunder Bay is now over.

Prior to the outbreak, significant measures were already in place at Southbridge Pinewood long-term care home to reduce likelihood of transmission of the virus within the facility. Expanded precautions were implemented for the duration of the outbreak.

For Ontario as a whole, officials recported 2,964 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, January 3, 2021. This notes a decrease in the number of new cases of the virus reported from from the record-breaking 3,363 infections reported on Saturday. It is, however a slight increase from Friday’s report of 2,476 cases.

There were 3,328 cases reported on Thursday and 2,923 cases added on Wednesday.
