Weather Update Spring 2022

THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – For Sunday, June 19, the morning starts with a Heat Warning for much of Western Ontario. There are also Thunderstorm Warnings in effect for Pickle Lake Region, Pikangikum Region, and the Atikokan Region.

These Thunderstorm Warnings were issued by Environment Canada early this morning. There could be other warnings issued. Stay tuned.

In the areas with the heat warning, the weather will be impacting the forests, drying them out. Be careful with fire.

Thunder Bay

It is +10 to start your Sunday in Thunder Bay. Winds are from the east this morning at 14 km/h. It will be mainly cloudy today with a 40 per cent potential for rain this morning along with the risk of a thunderstorm. Skies should be clearing this afternoon. Winds will be from the south at 20 gusting to 40 km/h this afternoon. The daytime high will be 22.

Skies will be clear this evening with an overnight low of 12.

Fort Frances

Fort Frances is under a heat warning. The daytime high will be +34, with the Humidex at 42. Keep hydrated today and make sure your pets and livestock have plenty of water. Skies will be sunny this morning followed by a mix of sun and cloud with a 30 per cent chance of showers this afternoon. There will also be a risk of a thunderstorm this afternoon. Wind south 30 km/h gusting to 50.

UV index 10 or very high.

Skies will be partly cloudy this evening, along with a 40 per cent chance of rain showers. Winds will be from the south at 30 km/h gusting to 50 becoming light this evening. Low 26.

Dryden and Vermilion Bay

Dryden and Vermilion Bay are under a heat warning.

It is 16 with winds from the south-southeast at 24 gusting to 33 km/h this morning under mostly cloudy skies.

There will be a 30 per cent chance of showers early this morning and late this afternoon. There will also be a risk of a thunderstorm late this afternoon. Winds will be from the south at 30 km/h gusting to 50. High 32 with the Humidex making it feel like 40.

UV index 9 or very high.

This evening, the forecast is for partly cloudy skies with a 40 per cent chance of showers. Skies will becoming clear before morning. There will be a risk of a thunderstorm. Winds will be from the south at 20 km/h becoming light this evening. Low overnight of 23.

Marten Falls

Mainly cloudy skies are in store for Marten Falls for Sunday with a 60 per cent chance of showers. There will be a risk of a thunderstorm this afternoon. Winds will be from the southeast at 30 km/h gusting to 50. High for the day of 20.

UV index 6 or high.

Tonight will see mainly partly cloudy skies. There will be a 60 per cent chance of showers this evening with risk of a thunderstorm. Winds will be from the south at 30 km/h becoming light this evening. Wind will be from the southeast 20 late this evening. Low 14.
