KASABONIKA LAKE – Crime News – A female suspect has been arrested and charged following a violent altercation in Kasabonika Lake First Nation that resulted in an adult male sustaining injuries consistent with a stabbing.
On the morning of Wednesday, June 25, officers with the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS) detachment in Kasabonika Lake responded to a call regarding a disturbance at a residence within the community.
Upon arrival, police learned that an altercation had taken place and that the male victim had already been transported to the local nursing station. The victim’s injuries, while serious, are believed to be non-life-threatening. He was later transferred to a hospital in Thunder Bay for further medical care.
Following an investigation at the scene, police identified and arrested the suspect without incident.

Assault with a Weapon

Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose (two counts)
The accused appeared before a bail hearing on Thursday, June 26. She was released from custody under conditions and is scheduled to appear in court at a future date.
