As of Sunday, June 22, no new wildland fires have been reported in the Northeast Fire Region, marking a continued period of relative stability in fire activity. Fire crews across the region remain vigilant, with five wildfires still active in varying stages of control.

Current Fire Activity in the Northeast:

  • 🔥 1 Not Under Control

  • 🟡 1 Being Held

  • 🔍 2 Being Observed

  • 1 Under Control

Although fire suppression efforts are progressing steadily, communities are reminded that fire status can change quickly with shifting weather patterns.

Fire Hazard Conditions:

The fire hazard across the Northeast remains generally low, offering a welcome reprieve for communities and firefighting personnel. However, localized weather shifts could elevate fire risks in susceptible areas. Residents are encouraged to regularly monitor fire hazard maps via Ontario’s Interactive Fire Map.

Public Advisory: Keep the Skies Clear – No Drone Zone

⚠️ Flying drones near active wildfires is illegal and extremely dangerous. Drones interfere with aircraft used in firefighting operations, posing severe risks to pilots and ground crews. Always steer clear of fire zones with drones or personal aircraft.

Safe Burning Reminder:

Ontario residents are urged to follow the Outdoor Burning Regulations to prevent human-caused fires. When burning is necessary:

  • 🔥 Only burn between two hours before sunset and two hours after sunrise

  • 💧 Always keep water and fire control tools on hand

  • ♻️ Whenever possible, choose composting or landfill disposal over open burning

For full regulation details, visit the Ontario Outdoor Burning Guide.
