Thunder Bay – WEATHER – Good morning Western and Northern Ontario. The cold spot in Ontario this morning at -26.4°C or -15.5°F is Nagagami. There are no weather warnings or weather alerts for our region.

There is a major winter storm in the Northeastern United States. It has dumped snow over many areas.

This includes New York where Reuters has Tweeted about the “Naked Cowboy” for whom the show must go on

Thunder Bay Weather Outlook

It is -14°C in Thunder Bay at 06:00 am EST headed to a daytime high of 0°C today. Skies are cloudy but will become a mix of sun and cloud this morning. Winds will be south 20 km/h late this morning. The wind chill is making it feel like -19°C this morning.

Tonight will see mainly cloudy. There is a 40 percent chance of snow flurries after midnight, then periods of light snow beginning overnight. There is a risk of freezing drizzle after midnight. Winds up to 15 km/h. The temperature will be steady near -1°C with the wind chill near -7°C.

Why Western and Northern Ontario?

If you look at a map of Canada, the major population centres from Thunder Bay to Kenora are south of Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver.

Our region, called Northwestern Ontario is Toronto-Centrically named. We are North of Toronto.

So realistically Northern Ontario is from Pickle Lake and North to Hudson Bay.
