OTTAWA – POLITICS – Justin Trudeau, leader of the Liberal Party, states “Canadians know that Ottawa is broken. It’s time for a real change. It’s time to do things differently.” The Liberal leader made the announcement in Ottawa on Monday.

Kenora Liberal Candidate, Bob Nault was on hand in Ottawa for the announcement.

“Northerners know that during the Harper decade, the Conservatives have damaged our political system. Mike Duffy and the Senate scandal is just one of many examples of this government’s poor judgement.” Nault said following the announcement.

“Today’s announcement represents one of the fundamental reasons I have decided to run again and join Mr. Trudeau’s team. He wants to bring about real change in Ottawa, through reforming our electoral system, the Senate, and Canadian’s access to government. Northerners want these changes and I am ready to go to Ottawa to represent them, and make it happen,” Nault continued.

“Transparent government is good government.”

The Liberal Plan for a Fair and Open Government included commitments for a more open and transparent government, giving Canadians more of a voice in Ottawa, having more open and fair elections, implementing evidence based policy, and providing better service for Canadians.

“Our riding has an aging population, with decreasing mobility. It’s simply unacceptable that the Conservative government would refuse to provide door-‐to-‐door delivery for their mail service. A Liberal government would stop Harper’s plan that hurts seniors in our community.” Nault said.

“I’d like to echo what Mr. Trudeau said earlier today, ‘This place is broken – together we are going to fix it.’”
