Thunder Bay Police have arrested a city man for assaulting a police officer

THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police received a call from a woman just before 3:00PM EDT on July 23rd, 2014. The lady reported that a male hiding was in the bush and taking photos of she and her friend while they were sun tanning by the river near Centennial Park.

Plain clothed detectives located a male matching the description of the suspect riding his bike on Hudson Avenue by Otto Street.

Officers identified themselves to the male who police report then became very uncooperative and attempted to leave the vicinity.

He was arrested after a short struggle while he was detained by officer to investigate this incident.

During the struggle one of the Police Officers was assaulted.

Fifty-four-year-old Roland Carrier of Thunder Bay has been charged with Mischief and Assaulting a Police Officer.

He made a court appearance and has been remanded to the District Jail and will make another court appearance on July 29, 2014.

Thunder Bay Police are looking to identify a group of three young females who were in the vicinity at the time Carrier was hiding in the bush.

The girls were made aware of the situation by the complainant and left the area before police arrived.

Detectives would like to speak to these three young people. They are asked to contact the police at 684-1239.

Officers seized a camera that was located in the male’s possession. This investigation is continuing.
