Vic Fedeli MPPQUEENS PARK – “Under Dalton McGuinty and Kathleen Wynne, the Liberals have shown time and time again that they will do anything to hide their scandals to protect their political power,” said Fedeli. “It is quite frightening that the Liberals have no problem destroying government documents to hide the truth from Ontario taxpayers. Who knows what they are destroying right now.”

Ontario PCs are requesting that police investigate what the party says is an apparent effort to whitewash and cover up evidence.

“Yesterday’s report from the Ontario Privacy Commissioner demonstrated that the McGuinty-Wynne Liberals will do whatever it takes to avoid accountability – including destroy documents and break the law”, PC MPP Vic Fedeli and PC MPP Rob Leone assert.

Fedeli made the comments following the release of a letter written by the Ontario PCs to Ontario Provincial Police Commissioner Chris Lewis to launch a formal investigation into the theft of taxpayer property and the breach of trust by a public official.

“The decision by Premier McGuinty’s Office to remove electronic records from government computers and put them onto USB sticks needs to be investigated by the OPP,” continued Leone. “The McGuinty-Wynne Liberals’ actions not only constitute theft, but are a breach of taxpayers trust.”

“I hope that the threat of jail doors slamming shut behind them will finally get taxpayers the truth about this corrupt Liberal government”, added Fedeli.

“Unfortunately, based on what we have seen from Premier Kathleen Wynne, nothing is going to change under the McGuinty-Wynne Liberals. The only way to truly get to the bottom of this scandal is to hold a judicial inquiry,” concluded Fedeli. “However, accountability can’t wait for our new government anymore. We need the OPP to investigate immediately.”
