THUNDER BAY – Aboriginal – Wasaya Airways LP have announced the launch of Aiming High-The Sky’s the Limit Pilot Flight School Training in partnership with Confederation College, HRSDC, and community partners; The Thunder Bay Indian Friendship Centre, Anishinabek Employment and Training Services, and and the Metis Nation of Ontario.

The flight school will be hosted at the Aviation Centre of Excellence (ACE) via Confederation College. This Flight School was developed specifically for the Aiming High – The Sky’s the Limit Pilot Training Project.

Wasaya GroupEach trainee that graduates from the program will receive their Private and Commercial Pilot licenses along with the Multi IFR. There are 10 Pilot trainees in the 18 month program. These trainees were selected through an extensive screening process that included simulator testing, classroom and on-line training. 

The mission statement of Wasaya Airways, has helped in directing this training project. It was developed to encourage meaningful education and employment of First Nation people in commercial aviation.
