We’re keeping an eye on weather conditions for Marten Falls (Ogoki Post), Sandy Lake, Bearskin Lake, Wasaho Cree Nation (Fort Severn), Attawapiskat, and Big Trout Lake (Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug) from Wednesday, October 30th through Saturday, November 2nd.
For Wednesday:
Expect a chilly and cloudy midweek day right across the region.
Marten Falls and Sandy Lake will see cloudy skies with a few flurries through the morning, tapering off by evening. Highs around zero to plus one, with northwest winds up to 30 kilometres an hour.
Bearskin Lake and Big Trout Lake can expect occasional light snow, while along the coast — in Fort Severn and Attawapiskat — breezy winds and scattered snow showers continue. Overnight lows fall to around minus four.
Thursday – Halloween Day:
A welcome break from the flurries!
Most areas will see a mix of sun and cloud, with light winds and highs near plus two.
Trick-or-treating in Sandy Lake, Big Trout Lake, and Marten Falls should stay dry but chilly, with evening temperatures around minus five, so make sure the kids bundle up under those costumes.
Friday, November 1st:
A calm and clear start to November.
Expect mainly sunny skies and light northwest winds. Highs range from plus two to plus four, dipping into the minus eight range overnight inland.
Along the coast, Wasaho and Attawapiskat stay a bit milder with clouds moving in late in the day.
Saturday, November 2nd:
Clouds return as another weak system approaches from northern Manitoba.
Western communities like Sandy Lake and Marten Falls will see flurries developing in the afternoon, while Bearskin Lake and the James Bay coast remain mostly cloudy with scattered snow showers.
Daytime highs near plus two, with lows around minus three.
🎙️ In summary:
The Far North will see a typical late-October transition into early winter — some midweek flurries, clear and cool conditions for Halloween, and a few more flakes to start November.
