THUNDER BAY – INDIGENOUS BUSINESS – Neeganii Iishawin (Nee-GAW-nee ISH-shawn) — “to lead to the Gathering Place” — returns February 10–12, 2026 for its third annual Economic Development Gathering & Tradeshow, bringing First Nations, industry, and governments together to accelerate Indigenous-led growth across Northern Ontario.

Launched in 2024 with 260+ guests, the Gathering has rapidly become a cornerstone of First Nations economic development. Last year’s event drew 340+ participants representing 50 First Nations, 107 businesses and organizations, and 46 exhibitors.

What’s New for 2026

  • Expanded Venue: The Thunder Bay Tournament Centre will host a larger tradeshow floor, giving exhibitors more space to showcase projects, products, and partnerships.

  • First Nation–Owned Hospitality: Delegates will enjoy “run of the inn” accommodations at the scenic Best Western Plus Nor’Wester Hotel & Conference Centre.

  • Returning Emcee: Celebrated Indigenous business leader J.P. Gladu—recently appointed to the Prime Minister’s Major Projects Office Indigenous Advisory Council—returns to keep the conversations sharp and the energy high.

“Each year, Neeganii Iishawin grows in scale and impact,” says J.P. Gladu. “2026 promises to be our most ambitious Gathering yet, and I’m thrilled to help guide the conversations that will shape the North’s economic future.”

Organizers say the 2026 program will deepen dialogue on equity partnerships, procurement, workforce development, critical minerals, clean energy, broadband, and community-owned enterprises, while expanding matchmaking between First Nations proponents and private- and public-sector investors.
