OPP say fully loaded gravel rig lost control on a corner; minor injury reported, careless driving charge laid

ATIKOKAN, ON — The Atikokan Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a tractor-trailer driver after a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 622 at the Rawn Reservoir on October 20, 2025, at approximately 2:00 p.m.

According to police, a tractor trailer with a fully loaded belly-dump gravel trailer lost control on a corner and rolled off the highway. The vehicle is a total loss. The driver sustained only minor injuries and walked away from the scene.

Kevin Terry ANDERSON, 49, of Atikokan, was issued a Provincial Offence Notice and charged with Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act.

OPP Road Safety Reminder

The OPP notes that commercial motor vehicle (CMV) collisions remain a serious safety concern on patrolled roads. Aggressive and careless driving behaviours—including speeding, improper lane changes, and following too closely—are leading contributors to CMV crashes each year. CMV safety and enforcement form part of the OPP’s Provincial Traffic Safety Strategy.

To report dangerous driving, contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. In an emergency, call 9-1-1. Road safety is a shared responsibility.
