Arrest Leads to Seizure of Cocaine, Crack Cocaine, Hydromorphone; Accused Remains in Custody

DRYDEN, ON – A Thunder Bay man is facing multiple serious charges after being arrested in Dryden as part of an ongoing investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) into drug trafficking activity in the region.

On the evening of June 24, 2025, officers from the Dryden OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with support from the local detachment, observed a suspicious individual at a business in the city. Further investigation led to the arrest of Eric LINDSTROM, 54, of Thunder Bay, and the seizure of suspected cocaine, crack cocaine, and hydromorphone—alongside other materials consistent with trafficking operations.

Charges Laid

Lindstrom is now facing six criminal charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and the Criminal Code of Canada:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
    Penalty: Up to life imprisonment.

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – hydromorphone
    Penalty: Up to life imprisonment.

  • Failure to comply with Release Order (two counts)
    Penalty: Up to two years per count if prosecuted by indictment.

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
    Penalty: Up to two years in prison.

  • Obstruct Peace Officer
    Penalty: Up to two years in prison.

  • Fail to comply with Probation Order
    Penalty: Up to 18 months imprisonment.

Accused Remanded Into Custody

Lindstrom has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 4, 2025, in Dryden. The arrest underscores ongoing efforts by law enforcement to disrupt the flow of illegal narcotics through Northwestern Ontario communities, including Thunder Bay, Dryden, and beyond.
