Arctic Air Holds Fort Severn in Its Grip Before Spring Finally Arrives

Fort Severn, ON – It’s a classic Fort Severn spring, meaning the calendar says May, but the thermometer says “still winter.” A cold start to the Victoria Day weekend will ease just in time for some sunny celebrations.

Saturday: Steady Ice Pellets, Gusty Winds, and Cold

Expect periods of ice pellets and a 40 percent chance of flurries Saturday. North winds will blow at 30 km/h, gusting to 50, keeping temperatures stuck near 1°C. The UV index is a faint 2.

Saturday night will bring continued clouds and a bone-chilling -5°C.

Sunday: Clearing but Staying Cool

Sunday will clear up with a high of 8°C. Sunday night remains clear and cold at -5°C. By Monday, Victoria Day will finally offer sunny skies and a high of 12°C, with a chilly low of -2°C overnight.

Fort Severn’s seasonal norms are 13°C highs and 1°C lows, making this weekend feel more like late April than late May.

Wardrobe Wisdom

Winter jackets, thermal boots, and extra layers are essential until Monday when lighter spring gear will finally make a comeback.
