NIPIGON, ON – May 6, 2025 – Members of the Nipigon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 156 calls for service between Monday, April 28 and Sunday, May 4, 2025. The week’s activity included a range of traffic, public safety, and enforcement-related incidents throughout the region.
Top Incidents: Traffic Enforcement Dominates
Of the 156 reported occurrences, traffic violations and road safety checks made up the bulk of the calls, including:

63 eTickets issued for vehicle infractions

18 R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program checks

12 traffic complaints
-
3 traffic hazards (involving vehicles, debris, animals, or pedestrians)

2 traffic enforcement stops under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)

3 motor vehicle collisions
These figures highlight the ongoing focus on road safety in the Nipigon area as part of broader OPP enforcement efforts.
