THUNDER BAY – Between April 7 and April 13, 2025, the Thunder Bay Police Service (TBPS) responded to a total of 951 calls for service. These included 23 reported assaults and 10 incidents where weapons were possibly involved.
🚨 Weekend Snapshot: High-Impact Incidents Behind the Numbers
While numbers alone don’t always tell the full story, last weekend’s 270 calls illustrate the intensity and complexity of front-line policing in Thunder Bay:
-
26 individuals taken into custody
-
18 Intimate Partner Violence-related calls, leading to 5 arrests
-
17 Mental Health Act-related calls, resulting in 6 apprehensions
-
6 missing persons, all successfully located
One of the more serious incidents involved a shooting, which required significant officer resources and coordination across units.
🔴 Priority Calls: A Closer Look
From March 15 to April 15, Thunder Bay Police responded to 825 Priority 1 calls—the most urgent category requiring immediate attention, typically involving life-threatening situations or active violence.
Priority 1 to 3 calls are classified as:
-
Priority 1: Highest urgency (e.g., active assaults, weapons involved)
-
Priority 2 & 3: Ongoing threats requiring prompt officer presence
These statistics demonstrate the high-risk environment officers operate in daily and highlight the importance of maintaining a strong and responsive police presence in the community.
