WINNIPEG – April 17, 2025 – A months-long investigation by the Winnipeg Police Service’s Child Abuse Unit has led to the arrest of a former teacher in connection with the alleged grooming and sexual exploitation of a teenage girl.
Investigators determined that between October 2024 and March 2025, the accused—employed as a teacher in the Fort Garry area at the time—used private messaging on a social media platform to build trust with a female student in her mid-teens. Over time, police allege he established an inappropriate and exploitative relationship.
On April 11, 2025, police arrested Ketan BADIANI, 58, of Winnipeg without incident. He has been formally charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

BADIANI has been released on court conditions, including a strict no-contact order with individuals under 18 years of age.
