THUNDER BAY – An electrical fire on the seventh floor of the Thunder Bay District Courthouse on the weekend has resulted in the facility being closed by order of the Fire Marshall’s Office.

The court is still functioning. The closure means cases will be heard electronically.

Ontariocourtdates.ca shows that today there are a number of cases, including bail hearings which even last week running remotely had the court working into the evening hours.

The fire on Sunday afternoon is under investigation.

Twenty-seven firefighters responded on Sunday to the fire.

The power to the building is currently off. There was evidence of water damage on the building on Sunday, but as the image shows, it is not there now.
