Thunderwolves Win “Ugly” Game Keeping Winning Streak Going in 2020

Sault Ste. Marie, ON – SPORTS – The Lakehead Thunderwolves men’s basketball team picked up 2020 where they left 2019, with an 87-62 win over the host Algoma Thunderbirds.
The Thunderwolves battled to win every quarter and finished strong, scoring 36 points in the fourth.
“Ugly game but a win for the boys to start the new year nonetheless,” said head coach Ryan Thomson.
“We have to be more disciplined and committed to executing on both ends of the floor.”
Lakehead’s Isaiah Traylor led the Thunderwolves with 22 points and eight rebounds, while Lock Lam added three blocks to his season total as well as 12 points and eight rebounds. Laoui Msambya and Alston Harris both finished the night with 14 points.
Algoma’s Vincent Farardeau led the Thunderbirds offensively with 13 points, while Nicholas Gehlen finished with 12 points and five rebounds.
The Thunderwolves will finish their road trip in Guelph on Sunday, Jan. 19 when they face the Gryphons. Thunderwolves fans can watch the Lakehead squad on OUA.tv at 2:00 pm.
