THUNDER BAY – Road construction on Junot Avenue, from Walkover Street to John Street, is scheduled to start on Monday, June 17. The road will be closed to through traffic during the construction with local access only. Detour signs will be posted.

Construction will continue for the full construction season and is expected to be completed by late fall.

Construction will include road widening to four lanes, asphalt resurfacing, extended active transportation trails, new sidewalks, underground municipal service work, curb and gutter work, and a new pedestrian crossover at the intersection of Junot Avenue and Windsor Street.

During the construction, transit bus routes 9 Junot and 11 John will be detoured. There will be no service between John Street and Walkover Street, all stops will be removed from service.

9 Junot to Water

Golf Links Road at John – buses will turn right on John, left on Clarkson, left on Walkover, right on Junot back to the regular route. Out of service bus stops will be 1779 Junot & Windsor, 1780 Junot & Walkover and 1852 Junot & John. A temporary bus stop will be placed before the lights at Golf Links and John.

9 Junot to Lakehead University or Intercity

Junot at Walkover –buses will turn left on Walkover, right on Clarkson, right on John, left on Golf Links Road back to the regular route. Out of service bus stops will be 1476 Junot & Windsor and 1853 Junot & John.

11 John

From Clarkson, buses will turn left on Sequoia Drive, right on Sequoia Street, left on John back to the regular route. Out of service bus stops will be 1449 Windsor & Clarkson, 1450 Windsor & Junot and 1853 Junot & John. A temporary bus stop will be placed on the northeast corner of Sequoia Drive at the pedestrian walkway between Windsor and Sequoia.

Motorists and pedestrians are asked to use extra caution and obey all posted signage when travelling near the construction area.
