THUNDER BAY – Following an extensive search and hiring process, City Manager Norm Gale is pleased to announce that Krista Power will be appointed as the fifth City Clerk for the City of Thunder Bay.

Ms. Power, formerly the Deputy City Clerk, has been working for the City since 2010. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Lakehead University and completed her certificate in Municipal Administration with the Association of Municipal Clerks and Treasurers, and previously served the Provincial Government working for the Ministry of Tourism from 2000 – 2010.

“Ms. Power brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this position,” said Gale. “She has a fantastic relationship with City Council, and will continue to give them thoughtful and professional advice in her new role.”

The Office of the City Clerk is responsible for maintaining the administrative, as well as the legislative, requirements necessary for a City Council and a municipal corporation to function in addition to managing corporate records, archives, issuing marriage and lottery licenses.

Ms. Power will be appointed as City Clerk through a by-law presented to City Council in July 2019 and she will succeed John Hannam as City Clerk as of August 2, 2019. A search for a new Deputy City Clerk will begin in June for Ms. Power’s replacement.
