Thunderwolves Nordic Skiing
THUNDER BAY – SPORTS – Lakehead’s Nordic skiing team will be competing at the Canadian Nordic Nationals in Gatineau, Quebec beginning tomorrow. The Thunderwolves skiers go into the event well versed in national competition, having recently participated in and collected medals at the Canada Winter Games.
The Winter Games were “a big event with very competitive fields,” Thunderwolves Nordic program coordinator Amanda Kates said. Thunderwolves’ wins were “huge for our program,” Amanda Kates added.
Shaylynn Loewen and Conor McGovern, who picked up medals at the Canada Winter Games, will be two of several Thunderwolves to watch out for.
“They have been great additions to our team this year,” Lakehead Nordic Skiing coach Adam Kates said.
The 92nd Canadian Nordic Nationals begin on Wednesday, March 13th and will run through the 20th. Nakkertok Nordic Centre in Gatineau, Quebec will be the host facility.
