SACHIGO LAKE – WEATHER – The far north of Ontario is still under the spell of chilling Arctic cold. An Extreme Cold Warning continues for the far north.

7:46 AM EST Saturday 02 February 2019
Extreme Cold Warning in effect for:

  • Big Trout Lake – Kasabonika
  • Sachigo Lake – Bearskin Lake
  • Webequie
  • Fort Severn

Environment Canada says that the period of very cold wind chills continues.

A frigid arctic air mass and brisk winds will continue to produce wind chill values near minus 45 this morning.

Wind chills will slowly improve through this morning as temperatures rise. There will be a reprieve from the bitter cold tonight, thanks to clouds and some snow which will keep temperatures a little higher and wind chills just shy of the warning threshold.

Extremely cold wind chills may return Sunday night as bitterly cold arctic air returns to the region.
