NEW YORK – CLIMATE – The planet is going through some tough times. With global warming on one hand and increased pollution on the other, we cannot say that we took care of Earth the way we should. However, it appears that solutions are also on their way, and more and more people are being more considerate.

One good example are solar panels. While years ago most people were skeptical, now it is nice to see that they are everywhere we look. Not only that they are friendly with the environment, but they are also friendly with the owners’ wallets.

If you are one of the persons that already own solar panels you are probably already aware of all their benefits. However, you might not know how to take care of them so that you can maximize their efficiency. Here are some things that you can do in order to take care of your solar panels.

Place them in a good location and monitor them

After you have picked some Solar Panels, it is important to find the perfect location for them. If they are in a place that is shaded, they won’t get all the sunlight they need so they won’t be able to get all the energy you need.

If you manage to find the right spot and install them, you should continue to keep an eye on them. It is very important to monitor them. First of all, check if the inverters are flashing green lights, then make sure that you keep track of how much energy is produced and how much CO2 you emit into the atmosphere.

A good monitoring system for your solar panels can show you exactly how much energy is produced every day. This way you will be able if the solar panels are really efficient and you will be able to determine a weather pattern.

Constantly clean your solar panels

Dirty solar panels can represent a problem. Luckily for you, it is very simple to take care of them. If you tend to clean them very often you can simply use a hose and clean them from the ground. You can also do that with a long-handled wiper.

If you want to clean them from the roof you need to be very careful, it will be slippery, so you will need to use a harness or safety ropes in order to prevent accidents. When you are up there make sure that you do not damage the solar panels and only use soft materials to wipe them.

If you are not sure what are the best cleaning products, you can just buy a solar panel cleaning kit. It comes with a small brush and one with a long handle, a wiper, and biodegradable soap. Use the soap with water and you should be able to find the rest of instructions on the box. Use the brush with the water and then wipe the solar panels very gently, so that you won’t damage them
