Magnus Theatre has been entertaining local audiences for more than 40 years.

THUNDER BAY – For the first time in its 45 year history, Magnus Theatre is announcing a second holdover.

“We are thrilled to announce that our production of Million Dollar Quartet has again exceeded expectations and will now be running until Saturday, October 8,” said outgoing Artistic Director Mario Crudo. “The show is an incredible hit that has struck a chord with audiences of all ages, which has led to an unprecedented demand for tickets.” New Artistic Director Thom Currie added, “It’s great to be joining the Magnus team at this time with the first show of the season being so tremendously popular; what a great way to start the new season and my tenure on such a positive high note.”

Million Dollar Quartet is the story of one historic night in 1956, when rock ‘n’ roll heroes Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash were brought together by record producer Sam Phillips for a star-studded jam session. It was the one and only time these four musical icons came together to share their musical talents and made rock n’ roll history.

Critics and theatre-goers have had nothing but effusive praise for the show, particularly for local musician/actor Danny Johnson in the central role of legendary producer Sam Phillips. Million Dollar Quartet features Michael Vanhevel as Elvis Presley, Jonas Shandel as Johnny Cash, Calvin Laveck as Jerry Lee Lewis, and Grant Landry as Carl Perkins. The cast is rounded out by Eden Richmond as Elvis’ girlfriend Dyanne and local musicians Evan Hadley and Timo Pehkonen as Jay Perkins and Fluke.

“We’ve never seen anything like this,” said Crudo, who also directed the production. “Every single show has had multiple standing ovations and encores. Million Dollar Quartet has really hit the mark for Thunder Bay audiences.”
