NAPS Makes Drug Bust in Eabametoong

THUNDER BAY – On May 31, 2016, the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit received information about illegal drug trafficking from Thunder Bay destined for the First Nation Territory of Eabametoong.

Police investigation revealed a female travelling via airplane was in possession of a quantity of Percocet prescription pills and Oxycodone prescription pills. The seizure had a total northern street value of approximately ten thousand four-hundred ($10,400.00) dollars.

Thirty-two-year-old Marilyn WABANO of Eabametoong First Nation has been charged with two counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. WABANO was released on conditions and will next appear in court in Thunder Bay on July 29, 2016.

Eabametoong First Nation is located approximately 385 km northeast of Thunder Bay.
