Blowing Snow Warning for Thunder Bay

THUNDER BAY – The Winter Storm Watch and Warning is over. However we are not out of the woods just yet.

Environment Canada reports, “An intense low pressure system now centred just north of Geraldton will move slowly northward tonight. Strong gusty winds behind the low will give considerable blowing snow to Northern Ontario tonight. Poor travel conditions can be expected due to poor visibilities, snow covered roads, and blowing and drifting snow. Condtions will gradually improve Saturday”.

The weather should however delight local skiers as both the nordic and alpine slopes are going to be in spectacular shape.

Keep in mind that the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce Outdoor Show is on at the SportsDome this weekend, and that on Saturday night the Lakehead University Thunderwolves are at Fort William Gardens in playoff action.

That will help with local residents across Northwestern Ontario who are digging out from the mass of snow over the past 24 hours.

Travellers are urged to adjust or postpone their plans accordingly. If travel is necessary, check highway conditions and possible highway closures before departing.
