Queen's Park News UpdateQUEEN’S PARK – I am writing to respond to some misinformation contained in a letter issued by Kenora Rainy River MPP Sarah Campbell regarding the Northern Health Travel Grant.

MPP Campbell suggests that there has been a change in eligibility requirements for Northerners who require access to the grant. This is just plain incorrect.

In fact, the only change that was made to the grant was related to the Accommodation Grant for patients requiring hotel accommodations when traveling for care. As of December 1, 2012, they must now provide a receipt to be eligible for reimbursement of that expense.

Once again, MPP Campbell is misinforming her constituents before seeking clarification through my ministry. For the record, I would be happy to discuss this or any other health care matter should she require more information.

Sincerely,
Deb Matthews
Minister, Health and Long Term Care
