THUNDER BAY – If your weekend travel plans involved driving east of Thunder Bay on Friday, it might be well worth it to check road conditions. Environment Canada is stating “A winter storm approaching the Great Lakes will strengthen today and track across Northeastern Ontario Friday. Snow in advance of this low will begin this evening north of Lake Superior and spread to Kapuskasing and Little Abitibi near midnight.

Snow will be heavy at times and end Friday. Snow amounts are expected to be in the 15 to 20 cm range with this event.

Driving conditions will quickly deteriorate tonight after the snow arrives. Motorists should be prepared for hazardous driving conditions due to accumulating snow on untreated roads and low visibility in heavy snow.
