THUNDER BAY – UPDATED – WARMING HAS ENDED

Environment Canada has just issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for parts of Northwestern Ontario.

The Warning was issued at 9:29 PM EDT Saturday 07 July 2018′

Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for:

  • Summer Beaver – Wunnummin Lake – Kingfisher Lake

At 8:29 p.m. CDT (9:29 p.m. EDT), Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain.

A line of severe thunderstorms will move east across the region by 10:00 PM CDT.

Communities in the path include:
Wunnummin Lake, Big Beaver House and Kingfisher Lake.

Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
