Missing Swimmer’s Body Recovered from Kaministiquia River

THUNDER BAY – On Thursday, July 5, 2018, at approximately 8:55 p.m.Thunder Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified that a 21-year-old male from Thunder Bay was missing on the Kaministiquia River. Police were advised that the male had been swimming with friends when he went underwater but did not resurface. Officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the OPP, the Thunder Bay Fire Department, and the Conmee Fire Department attended the scene.

The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU), the OPP Marine Unit and members of the North West Region Emergency Response Unit (ERT), with the assistance of a helicopter, assisted with the search.

On the afternoon of July 7, 2018, USRU recovered the body of 21-year-old Duy LE.
