THUNDER BAY – SPORTS – The Thunder Bay Country Club, a nine-hole golf course located on Golf Links Road has been sold.

The Club reports, “The deal has been signed and the Golf Course land has been officially sold.”

A group of Thunder Bay investors, spearheaded by David Baxter, Doug Coppin and Mike Jurcik, have acquired the condominium property situated on the Thunder Bay Country Club lands.

All of the legal issues related to the property development have been resolved by the new group of investors, clearing the way for a condominium development to proceed at the site. Says Gino Arnone, spokesperson for the investors; “This is good news for the future of Thunder Bay Country Club and the community as a whole. The investors will now decide whether to work with a developer to construct a condominium project or to develop the project themselves with the support of additional investors.”

A lease agreement has also been reached with Thunder Bay Country Club for the golf course, ensuring a viable future for the operation.

Both the investors and the Thunder Bay Country Club recognize the need for a country club living environment in the heart of Thunder Bay. They share a joint vision to re-launch the condominium project for the long-term success of Thunder Bay Country Club.

In a statement posted on Facebook the Thunder Bay Country Club says, “This is a new chapter in the life of the Thunder Bay Country Club. The board is hopeful that the club can continue to operate well into the future with the new restructuring.

“The fees for next golf season should be out by the end of November.

“The fees will reflect the present situation of the Golf Course. What we are working with next season, because of the lack of a club house, is a great golf experience with few amenities such as a restaurant, locker rooms etc.

“We are confident that the new owners will provide us new clubhouse for the 2017 season and are grateful for the loyal members that continue to support the club during a difficult period.”

The golf club has been operating without a clubhouse and has seen construction of a condo development at the course stop.
