Thunder Bay’s spring cleanup is officially on the move
Thunder Bay – NEWS – City crews began the spring street sweeping program on Monday, April 27, 2026, as temperatures now remain consistently above freezing.
The work focuses on clearing winter sand from streets, sidewalks, bike lanes, and major routes. Crews will start with the downtown core, arterial roads, collector streets, and bike lanes before moving into residential neighbourhoods.
Street sweeping helps improve road safety, visibility, drainage, and cleanliness. It also helps keep sand and debris out of local waterways.
Drivers and pedestrians are asked to use extra caution around sweeping equipment and road crews over the next several weeks.
