Schreiber OPP issue 30-day licence suspension and 14-day vehicle impoundment following Highway 17 speed enforcement
TERRACE BAY – NEWS – A 62-year-old driver from Caledon, Ontario is facing a stunt driving charge after being stopped for allegedly travelling more than 40 km/h over the posted speed limit on Highway 17 near Terrace Bay.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Schreiber Detachment says the stop occurred on January 29, 2026, at approximately 7:30 p.m., while officers were conducting LIDAR speed enforcement as part of general patrol duties.
Police allege an officer observed an eastbound blue 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz travelling at 101 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone.
Charge and Immediate Penalties
The driver has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt (Excessive Speed)
OPP say the accused also received:

A 30-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS)

A 14-day vehicle impoundment
Court Date
The driver is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Nipigon on May 11, 2026.
