Police Respond to Online Threats Involving Weapon
Firearms Seized, Accused Held in Custody
WINNIPEG – December 25, 2025 – A 32-year-old Winnipeg man is facing multiple firearm-related charges following an investigation prompted by a social media video involving a weapon and alleged threats toward the public.
The Winnipeg Police Service reports that on December 24, 2025, shortly after 2:00 p.m., officers were alerted to an online livestream in which a man was seen holding a firearm and making threats to harm members of the public.
Following the report, police launched an investigation that led them to a residence in the 1300 block of McDermot Avenue West, where they believed the video originated.
At approximately 5:30 p.m., officers from the Central District General Patrol, assisted by the Tactical Support Team, K-9 Unit, and Drone Unit, arrested Devon Daniel James Ross, 32, at the residence without incident.
During the arrest, police seized a 1916 Lee-Enfield rifle and an air-powered Slava 624 rifle as evidence.
Charges Laid
Ross has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

Possession of a Firearm Knowing Its Possession Is Unauthorized

Possession of a Firearm, Restricted or Prohibited Weapon, Firearm Part or Ammunition Contrary to a Prohibition Order
Ross was detained in custody following his arrest.
