Shuniah Resident Arrested, Charged in Homicide Investigation

SHUNIAH, ON – On Monday, July 14, 2025, shortly after 10:50 p.m., officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a residence on Blind Creek Drive. Upon arrival, they located a deceased individual and immediately took one person into custody.

Victim and Accused Identified

The victim has been named as Shelley MARCONI, 54, of Shuniah. Following a preliminary investigation and evidence gathering, 26-year-old Kyle BARRY, also of Shuniah, was charged with second-degree murder under section 235(1) of the Criminal Code.

Court Appearance and Remand

Barry was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on Friday, July 18, 2025, to face the charge.

The OPP North West Region Crime Unit continues the probe under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with support from the Office of the Chief Coroner, the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, and OPP Forensic Identification Services.
