Concord Pacific CEO Terry Hui and his yacht Lyra have reclaimed the top spot at Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, winning the Maxi 2 class after a closely fought week of racing on the French Riviera.

Lyra finished the regatta with five points, securing the class title two points clear of defending champion Twin Soul B. The victory marked a return to winning form for Hui and his crew after their six-year winning streak at Saint-Tropez was interrupted in 2025.

Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez ran from September 26 to October 4, 2026, bringing classic yachts, modern racers, and maxis together for one of the Mediterranean’s best-known sailing events.

Terry Hui and Lyra Start the Regatta With a Win

Hui and Lyra began their 2026 campaign by winning the opening Maxi 2 race in light conditions off the Baie de Pampelonne.

Lyra finished 1 minute, 21 seconds ahead of Twin Soul B on corrected time, immediately putting Hui’s team at the front of the class battle.

“It was a tough, long day, but it’s like riding a bike,” said Hui. “We’ve got a good team. We were up against Twin Soul B, and they are a good boat, too. Last year, they broke our winning streak, but competition makes it more fun.”

Terry Hui, a past IMA Maxi European Champion, now races the Wally 77 only at Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, making the annual event a rare opportunity to see the yacht in full competition.

Lyra Stays in Contention Through a Difficult Week

Conditions shifted throughout the week, ranging from light, tactical racing to stronger winds and a challenging sea state. Lyra also dealt with technical issues during the competition, including a broken spinnaker.

Despite those setbacks, Hui and his crew remained firmly in contention.

After racing was lost on October 1 because of insufficient wind, the Maxi 2 fleet returned to action on October 2 for two windward-leeward races. Lyra recorded a second-place finish followed by another race victory, winning by nine seconds.

Those results put Hui and Lyra into the final day with a one-point advantage at the top of the standings.

Lyra Delivers With Maxi 2 Title on the Line

With the championship still undecided, Lyra entered the final race on October 3 knowing that another strong performance would secure the Maxi 2 title.

At the start, Lyra and Twin Soul B were engaged in a close battle near the pin end of the line. Terry Hui’s team stayed on the correct side of the start, while its rival was called over the line early and had to recover.

Lyra capitalized on the advantage and remained in a strong position through the race. A favourable shift on the second upwind leg helped Hui’s crew consolidate its lead before going on to win the race.

The victory gave Lyra five points in the final standings and secured the 2026 Maxi 2 championship.

Terry Hui and Lyra Return to the Top at Saint-Tropez

The 2026 title adds another chapter to Hui and Lyra’s long record of success at Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez.

Lyra won its class at six consecutive editions of the regatta through 2024 before that streak ended in 2025, when Hui’s team finished just one point short of the title.

A year later, Lyra returned to Saint-Tropez and reversed the result.

For Concord Pacific’s Terry Hui, the victory restores Lyra to a familiar position at the top of its class.

Lyra is expected to return to competition when Hui and his crew come back to Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez in 2027.
