Did You Know? Thunder Bay Voters Can Cast Their Ballots Online in the 2026 Municipal Election

THUNDER BAY — You can vote in Thunder Bay’s 2026 Municipal and School Board Election without travelling to a polling station—but online voting has not opened yet.

Internet voting begins Monday, October 19, at 10 a.m. and closes Monday, October 26, at 8 p.m. Once voting opens, the service will be available around the clock until the deadline. All times are Thunder Bay local time.

Your Voter Information Letter is the key

The City scheduled Voter Information Letters to begin arriving during the week of September 28.

Your letter contains online voting access information and your individual PIN, along with advance voting details, Election Day polling locations and accessibility information. Keep it handy as voting approaches.

How to vote online

You can use an internet-connected computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone—even if you are away from Thunder Bay during the voting period.

To get ready:

  1. Locate your Voter Information Letter.
  2. Check that your voter information is correct.
  3. Once voting opens, visit the voting website identified in your letter.
  4. Follow the letter’s instructions and use your individual PIN to access online voting.

The City says you must have your Voter Information Letter to vote online.
