THUNDER BAY, ON – Great North Wrestling (GNW) is set to make a triumphant return to Thunder Bay on Saturday, August 29, bringing what promises to be the largest professional wrestling event to hit Fort William Gardens since 2010.
Headlining the blockbuster card is a truly historic main event featuring Thunder Bay’s own Vampiro, who will compete in the final match of his legendary career.
The former WCW superstar, Mexican wrestling icon, and the only Canadian wrestler to ever pin Hulk Hogan clean on television, will step into the ring one last time against former WWE Superstar Chris Masters, renowned around the world for his devastating Master Lock Full Nelson submission hold.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for wrestling fans to see a hometown legend compete in his farewell match,” said GNW President Michael Andrews. “Vampiro’s final bout will be remembered as one of the most significant wrestling moments in Thunder Bay history.”
Fans can also expect a hard-hitting showdown when the undefeated Texas Wrestling Champion Hannibal “The Blood Hunter” takes on former WWE star “The Outlaw” Charlie Haas.
Also returning to his role as Ring Announcer is NetNewsLedger’s James Murray.
Hannibal brings an impressive résumé that includes runs in WWE, TNA Wrestling, England, Puerto Rico’s WWC and IWA promotions, where he captured multiple championships, including:
- Two-time WWC Puerto Rico Tag Team Champion
- Former IWA Puerto Rico Intercontinental Champion
- Undefeated Texas Wrestling Champion
Standing across the ring will be Charlie Haas, one of the most accomplished amateur and professional wrestlers of his generation:
- Two-time NCAA Big East Champion
- Three-time WWE Tag Team Champion as part of the legendary Team Angle
Fans should expect an intense battle that is not for the faint of heart.
The event will also feature an exciting women’s match as former AEW and TNA star Amber Nova, the beauty from Florida, faces off against New York’s Tina San Antonio, who has also competed for AEW.
In addition to the featured matches, fans will witness several other bouts that will be professionally taped for international distribution on The Hannibal TV YouTube Channel, giving Thunder Bay fans the opportunity to be part of a globally viewed wrestling event.
