THUNDER BAY – SPORTS – What a night under the lights at Port Arthur Stadium as the Thunder Bay Border Cats turned up the heat and unleashed a run-scoring frenzy on Wednesday night, taming the La Crosse Loggers in a 15-9 slugfest to split their four-game series.

And folks—if you blinked, you missed the Batting Frenzy Fireworks.

The game’s defining moment came in the bottom of the fourth, where the Cats exploded for a nine-run inning that left the Loggers scrambling and the Thunder Bay faithful roaring in approval. The Border Cats flipped a tight one-run lead into a 10-run cushion in a matter of minutes. Boom. Game flipped. Momentum stolen.

💥 Cats Offense Roars to Life

Leading the offensive stampede were Manny Alberto (Georgia Gwinnett College) and Ty Hamilton (Florida SouthWestern College), both driving in a pair during that fourth-inning avalanche. Hamilton was an absolute menace at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a double, a stolen base, and earning himself Cwench Player of the Game honours—brought to you by the official hydration partner of the Border Cats.

Hayden Stringfellow (Bossier Parish CC) kept the party going with three RBIs, and Camden Tanner (Arkansas-Monticello) added a sizzle of his own with a two-run triple that sent the fans leaping out of their seats.

⚾ Border Cats Stay in the Hunt

The win pushes Thunder Bay to a 13-10 record and keeps them in the thick of the race for the Great Plains East Division’s first-half crown. Their bats are as hot as July asphalt, but the team knows pitching depth will be key down the stretch.

With new arms set to join the rotation, look for this team to keep clawing their way toward the top.

🐶 Up Next: Waterloo Bucks + Bark in the Park!

Coming up next, the Border Cats welcome the Waterloo Bucks for a two-game set starting Thursday. It’s shaping up to be a big night at the park:

  • “Thirsty Thursday” features $6 RBI Lager tall cans courtesy of Sleeping Giant Brewing Co.

  • It’s also the annual “Bark in the Park” night! The first 100 dogs through the gate get a treat bag from Pet Valu, so leash up and load up the pup!

Thunder Bay’s heating up—on the field and in the stands. This team is pounding the zone, spraying the gaps, and playing with swagger. With their eyes locked on the division crown, the Border Cats are proving they’ve got the claws to contend.
