WUNNUMIN LAKE – REGIONAL CRIME REPORT – A 22-year-old woman from Wunnumin Lake First Nation is facing drug trafficking charges after police seized a significant quantity of suspected crack cocaine and buprenorphine at the community airport on Saturday, June 14.
Officers from the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS), stationed at the Wunnumin Lake detachment, responded to a call about a suspicious incident at the local airport. Airport security had reported concerns that a passenger was attempting to bring illicit substances into the community.
Upon arrival and investigation, police determined that the suspect was in possession of a substantial amount of suspected crack cocaine and a quantity of buprenorphine, a synthetic opioid.
Significant Drug Seizure
The estimated street value of the cocaine alone exceeds $77,000 CAD, highlighting the seriousness of the trafficking attempt.
The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

Emily Rebecca SHAWINIMASH, 22, of Wunnumin Lake First Nation, has been charged with:

She has since been released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in court at a future date.
