THUNDER BAY – May 27, 2025 – It was a tough one on the road for the Thunder Bay Border Cats, who ran into a buzzsaw in Eau Claire Tuesday night, falling 22-2 to the Express in Game 2 of the season-opening series.
But with the home opener tonight at Port Arthur Stadium, the real story for Border Cats fans begins now.
Rough Outing, But the Season’s Just Getting Started
The Express bats were red-hot from the start, tagging the Cats for four runs in the first two innings before blowing it open with a 11-run third inning. Wild pitches, defensive miscues, and a handful of RBI singles gave Eau Claire all the cushion they needed.
The big blow came in the fourth when Alex Hendrickson launched a grand slam to right field, putting an exclamation point on a dominant performance by the Express.
Despite the lopsided score, Thunder Bay’s dugout kept battling, looking for momentum to carry into their home opener.
Back to Port Arthur – Home Opener Hopes High
While the final score stings, the Border Cats Nation knows the real season starts tonight under the lights at Port Arthur Stadium, where the Cats will look to bounce back in front of a hometown crowd.

Returning favourites ready to anchor the rotation
