Winnipeg Police Investigating Homicide Following Early Morning Incident on Cumberland Avenue

WINNIPEG – CRIME REPORT – The Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) is investigating a homicide following a serious incident that occurred in the early morning hours of May 23, 2025.

At approximately 1:00 a.m., officers from the Central District General Patrol responded to a report of an injured male in the 300 block of Cumberland Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 39-year-old man suffering from serious upper body injuries. Officers provided emergency medical care at the scene, including the application of chest seals in an effort to stabilize the victim before paramedics arrived.

The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries.

The Winnipeg Police Homicide Unit has now taken over the investigation.
