Third Suspect in Shelby Hayward Homicide Arrested

Winnipeg, MB – Winnipeg Police have made a third arrest in connection with the death of 30-year-old Shelby Dawn Hayward.

Hayward was reported missing in November 2023 after last being seen near Polo Park Mall. The Missing Persons Unit initially led the investigation, but in early 2024, the Homicide Unit took over as evidence suggested Hayward was deceased.

Throughout the investigation, four suspects were identified. Sadly, one of the suspects passed away during this period.

On October 31st, 2024, 25-year-old Taylor Lena Ray Moose was arrested in the area of Maryland Street on a warrant for First Degree Murder. This follows the previous arrests of:

  • Tamara Gayle Moneyas, 24: Arrested on September 25th, 2024.
  • Vincent Charles Fontaine, 39: Arrested on October 2nd, 2024 at the Headingley Correctional Centre.

Both Moneyas and Fontaine have been charged with First Degree Murder and remain in custody.

Understanding First Degree Murder:

In Canada, first-degree murder is defined as a homicide that is both planned and deliberate. It is the most serious homicide offence and carries an automatic life sentence with no parole eligibility for 25 years.

Presumption of Innocence:

It is important to remember that all accused individuals, including Moose, are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The investigation into Hayward’s death continues. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Homicide Unit at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 204-786-TIPS (8477) or online at winnipegcrimestoppers.org.
