Thunder Bay OPP Arrests Calgary Driver for Impaired Operation on Highway 11/17

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – Responding to a traffic complaint on Highway 11/17 near the Terry Fox Lookout, Thunder Bay OPP officers apprehended 47-year-old Tonino Gerace of Calgary, Alberta, for impaired driving on December 22, 2023.

Investigations confirmed Gerace was under the influence of alcohol, leading to his arrest and multiple charges. These include Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs, Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus), and violations of the Highway Traffic Act, Liquor Licence and Control Act, and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

Scheduled for a February 6, 2024 court appearance, Gerace faces serious consequences if convicted. The OPP emphasizes its dedication to eradicating impaired driving and encourages the public to report any suspected cases to enhance road safety.
