First Week of Nominations Ends in Thunder Bay Civic Election Campaign.

THUNDER BAY – CIVIC POLITICS – Friday capped off the first week nominations for the Thunder Bay Civic Election were open.

Brian Hamilton, the incumbent candidate in the McKellar Ward filed his nomination papers on Friday.

Hamilton, a first term candidate is being challenged by Lori Paras who ran in the last election at large.

Hamilton becomes the first incumbent to file papers. Mayor Bill Mauro has stated he is seeking a second term.

In Northwood, Councillor Shelby Ch’ng has taken an unpaid leave of absence in order to run in the provincial election as the Liberal candidate in Thunder Bay-Superior North.

There are already three candidates who have filed their paperwork in Northwood. Bill Dell, Dominic Pasqualino and Chris “Krumps” Krumpholz have filed their paperwork.

One candidate, Jason Veltri has filed in Red River Ward.
