Thunder Bay – Weather – There are air quality alerts and some heat warnings still in effect for the region for Monday, July 5, 2021.

Thunder Bay Outlook

Thunder Bay remains under both a heat warning and a air quality alert. The forecast is for a mix of sun and cloud today. It will become sunny this afternoon. Local smoke from forest fires will impact air quality. Winds will becoming northwest 30 km/h gusting to 50 this morning. High of 31. Humidex will make it feel more like 36. The UV index 9 or very high.

Tonight will see clear skies with local smoke this evening. Winds will be from the northwest at 30 km/h gusting to 50 becoming light late this evening. Winds will becoming north 20 before morning. Low overnight of 13.

Sioux Lookout Weather

Sioux Lookout is under an air quality alert today. Environment Canada reports, “High levels of air pollution due to smoke from forest fires are expected.

“Smoke plumes from several forest fires will affect the area as the wind direction remains out of the northwest through this afternoon. Air quality is likely to deteriorate if the smoke descends to ground level.

“As winds become northeasterly by Tuesday, smoke will be directed toward Manitoba. Air quality is expected to improve as a result”.

Weather wise, it is 20 to start the morning in Sioux Lookout. Skies are a mix of sun and cloud. There is a 30 per cent chance of showers early this morning. Clearing near noon. Local smoke. Wind becoming northwest 30 km/h gusting to 50 early this morning. High 25. Humidex 29. UV index 9 or very high.

Washaho Cree Nation

It is far cooler in the northern regions of Ontario. It is currently 4 in Washaho Cree Nation. The forecast is calling for periods of rain. There will be a risk of a thunderstorm early this morning.
