Thunder Bay – WEATHER – Extreme cold weather conditions continue across the region.

Northwestern Ontario Student Services Consortium advises that all buses are cancelled today due to continued extreme cold weather throughout northwestern Ontario.

Student Transportation Services of Thunder Bay report all buses are running. However, the City of Thunder Bay has cancelled its School Crossing Guard Service today, Thursday, February 11, 2021, for the morning shift only due to extreme cold weather. Service is planned to resume for the afternoon shifts.

The cold spot in Ontario this morning is -44.2 °C or -47.6 °F in Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug First Nation also called Big Trout Lake,

Environment Canada says that extreme wind chill values near -40 are continuing this morning and may continue tonight into Friday morning. The extreme cold may return on the weekend with wind chill values approaching -40 each night.
